Founder and President
Tim
Karhu is the founder and president of Adds Up, Inc. The company was
started in 1987 and has experienced steady growth since its inception. Under
his leadership, Adds Up, Inc. is responsible for billing millions of dollars
in medical receivables annually. Karhu’s qualifications include the
sought after Healthcare Billing & Management Association Certification,
a symbol of his dedication to professionalism and his concern for upholding
the highest industry standards. As a Certified Healthcare Billing & Management
Executive (CHBME), Karhu’s knowledge is constantly evolving. Prior to
founding Adds Up, Inc., Karhu held positions as retail operations manager,
property manager, and real estate consultant for one of the nation's largest
real estate management firms. Due to his advanced skill set, Karhu has been
featured in the trade publication Billing, he serves on a medical industry
Government Relations Committee, and he provides consulting to an Arizona State
Senator on medical billing legislation. Karhu also shares his knowledge by
lecturing to groups interested in starting their own medical billing company.
Secretary
Beth
G. Meyers-Karhu is the corporate secretary. She earned her Bachelors
degree in education from Arizona State University graduating Magna Cum Laude
with honors. Meyers-Karhu went on to earn a Masters Degree from Northern Arizona
University graduating with distinction. She has worked for the company since
1989. Her background and education make her a tremendous asset in dealing
with the day-to-day operations of medical billing, personnel training and
supervision, as well as working as the corporate secretary.
Accountant and Business Consultant
Douglas
A. Gray is a Certified Public Accountant and partner in the accounting
firm of Pearce, Gray & Co., P.L.C. Gray received his bachelor's degree
in accounting from New Hampshire College, Manchester, New Hampshire. He has
been in public accounting for 34 years, 17 of which have been in Arizona.
His practice has primarily been with small businesses. Doug's involvement
has been in financial statements, audits, reviews, tax planning and compliance,
procurement of financing and general business consulting.
Attorney
Barry J. Dale
is the attorney for Adds Up, Inc. He is a State Bar of Arizona Certified Specialist
in Real Estate. Dale graduated Cum Laude from Harvard Law School in 1978.
Prior to Harvard, Dale received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
and also a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University, graduating Magna
Cum Laude. Dale was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honors society and Tau Beta
Pi. Dale's practice covers a wide range of business and commercial specialties.
From 1989 to 1999 Dale worked at the Phoenix office of Steptoe & Johnson,
heading its Phoenix corporate and commercial transactions. From 1978 to 1989
Dale worked at Evans, Kitchel & Jenckes.
Medical Transcription
Deborah
Burns is president of Deborah's Touch, Inc, an affiliated company.
Burns is a business owner as well as an instructor and author. Deborah's Touch,
Inc. is a medical transcription and secretarial company with corporate offices
located in Phoenix, AZ. Burns' clients include hospitals, large corporations,
and legal firms. Burns, an author of medical transcription workbooks and programs,
is also an instructor for adult and community education. Burns has been a
guest speaker at business seminars, colleges and high schools, and on various
radio shows.
